Speaking to reporters today at the New Brunswick Legislature, Tory leader, Bruce Fitch was upset that Minister of Energy, Donald Arsenault, made public comments of surprise and concern about Saint John Mayor Mel Norton insterest in starting a discussion on the treatment of fracking wastewater in the City.  Fitch was calling out the Minister for breach in protocol while the Premier was out of Province on a trip to the Francophonie Summit in Senegal.

Mayor Norton met with the government privately over the Economic Development plans for his region in Fredericton last Wednesday,  "In the spirit of co-operation I extended the offer to start the discussion on how Saint John can play a role in overcoming the barriers to moving this industry forward in an environmentally safe manner." he explained.

Fitch concern was that Minister Arsenault made public a private discussion without notifying Mayor Norton.  Protocol on confidentiality should have been followed. Fitch alleges that the government did not receive consent from Mayor Nelson to discuss publically their private meetings and discussions.
