George Street Middle School attending a special screening of Marvel’s Captain America

The fun will begin with students from the George Street Middle School attending a special screening of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
 
The students and school are being honoured with this star treatment as a result of their extraordinary volunteer and fundraising efforts for CHAT To The Future. CHAT To The Future houses, educates, cares for and provides for 17 orphaned Ugandan children in Kampala. The school sponsored an eight-year -old boy at the orphanage, and raised funds throughout the year to pay for his schooling. To make sure their student had even more support, the school used Skype to interact with the young boy, along with the other orphans.

Jacob Brennan Student Player of the Year

BATHURST, Monday March 10th, 2014 – The TITAN organization is proud of its academic success of its players during the academic year of 2013-2014.  High school students from the francophone and Anglophone system have maintained a 92% success rate; Cegep players have maintained a 100% success rate while those taking university courses have achieved an 87 % success rate.  Amongst these students, one distinguished himself by maintaining a 94% average while completing 5 university courses and 2 advanced high school courses.

Keswick Ridge 4-H Club wins third place

Keswick Ridge 4-H Club won third place in the Enbridge-sponsoredBuild A Winning Future Contest. As 4-H heads into its second century, clubs from across Canada were asked to depict their unique vision for the organization’s future by creating a structure built entirely out of playing cards.

The 4-H club created a number of card structures representing unique future project ideas. The club sees the future of 4-H evolving into a multitude of possibilities including butterfly projects, sports leadership, parliament hill, urban development and even space adventure. City Announces Transit Fare Assistance Program 2014

Fredericton, NB (January 13, 2014) – The City of Fredericton is now accepting applications from community groups and agencies interested in participating in the City’s Transit Fare Assistance Program for 2014.
 
The program is designed to provide additional support to community groups as they assist their clients’ efforts to attend medical appointments, access education and training, seek employment or visit service providers.  The program will operate throughout 2014 and will include the Dial-A-Bus service.
 
Applications for the program can be obtained on-line at the City’s website and search for “Transit Fare Assistance Program, or at the Recreation and Social Facilitation offices, 620 Queen Street. 
In 2013, the program provided 380 dial-a-bus tickets and 5,437 regular single ride Fredericton Transit tickets to 33 community agencies to help their clients.

Bathurst Unveiling of Student Inspired Informative Panels

On the afternoon of Friday, October 4th 2013, Bathurst residents, students and dignitaries gathered near the Basin NB Trail for the unveiling of 11 student inspired informative panels.

The panels were created using paintings and research information by grade 3-5 students part of the Terry Fox Elementary School 2011-2012 Enrichment Group. The subject at hand; wild animals and fauna.

Students part of the Grade 4 English 2011-2012 class also created QR codes for the panels which lead to websites and features the students’ research and blog about the project.

Rogersville's new Municipal Buildings targeted by arsonist

Fire reportedly set Saturday morning around 11 a.m.  The newly constructed municipal offices was the target of an arsonist.  RCMP are saying someone intentionally threw an incendiary device on the roof in the early morning hours on Saturday May 4 and are seeking the publics help.  The new facility was being built because fire completely destroyed the municipal offices in January of last year.  The Mayors offices, RCMP and Fire Department were in the same building last year and all offices and equipement were lost [see photos and video below].  The new facility also has all three community offices, mayor, police and fire, together once again.

New Federal Electoral Map for New Brunswick Tabled in the House of Commons

 

FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwire - Jan. 28, 2013) - The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for New Brunswick has submitted its report redrawing the province's federal electoral map to the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. The report was tabled in the House of Commons today.
